Birki's Footwear from Happy Feet Plus

Birki's History

1993 - Foundation of the Birki Schuh GmbH by Stephan Birkenstock. Arrangement of the first collection for different market segments and target groups. From beginning steady component of the program: cork-latex models and ALPRO® foam Clogs with replaceable, anatomically formed footbeds.

1995 - By order of the Birki Schuh GmbH a special procedure is developed that permits to foam together the upper material of Birko-Flor® and the sole of ALPRO® foam directly. Thus Birki's is able to produce the first sandals without any adhension. Direct injection of the innovative ALPRO ® foam is completely free of CFC. The material consists of millions smallest air bubbles which lend its elasticity and flexibility.

1999 - Based upon a specially developed production procedure Birki's succeeds in manufacturing the worldwide first, extremely light Clog of ALPRO®-Cell. ALPRO®-Cell long-lasting, waterproof, wear-steady and resistant by oils, lyes, acids, fat and hydrocarbons. By the combination of these qualities Birki's has developed exactly the right material for the demanding requirements in water sports and for leisure time.

2000 - Birki's introduces a sandal collection which completely is built of ALPRO®-Cell and which is produced without adhesion. With these products Birki's applies the positive qualities of the ALPRO®-Cell Clogs to their sandal line.

2003 - Birki Kids, the program especially for children is initiated. Today the Kids line is a steady and successful component for Birki's.

2005 - Birki expands the selection of the versatile models. In 2004 the first sandal was developed with a removable heel strap. Today the Tofino can be reconfigured using different buttons and accessories to create styles that meet your mood, occasion or imagination.
